Native wildlife habitat and any major disturbances caused by development can require a California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) review. The California Supplemental Exam for landscape architects tests landscape architects candidates knowledge of CEQA and other regulatory agencies and programs.

What is CEQA?

CEQA was enacted by the California legislature in 1970 to ensure that state and local agencies think about the environmental effects of their decisions when approving a public project or private development.

An activity is subject to California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) review when…

  • The Agency has discretionary approval, The Agency has discretionary approval,
  • The activity has the potential to result in direct or The activity has the potential to result in direct or indirect physical changes in the environment, and
